Week 2 – April 26

[Author’s note: If this is your first time visiting the UMC blog, you might want to check out the INTRODUCTION first.]

Hey all! Before getting to my review of last night’s competition, I have a small bit of unfortunate news to report. I am no longer able to take pictures in the DreamCatcher. It seems there are some complications with the gaming commission and taking photos in the lounge is heretofore verboten!

I know this sucks but let’s not make a big deal about it. It’s out of our hands and griping about it will only aggravate us (read: me) more. Besides, I’m going to use different, relevant images in their place so don’t lament my friends, all will be fine.

And the winner of Ultimate Music Challenge Week 2 is….

Monsters of Rock

Congratulations boys! Well done. Hell yeah!

So, what a night it was. I think everybody is in agreement that all the bands which played last night were excellent. I sure walked out of there with an electricified grin on my face.

The first band to take the stage was the Sofa Kings. It was a superb way to start the evening. They were tight and they were pro and they chose a couple of gems to play for us, including an outstanding version of Sugar Loaf’s “Green Eyed Lady,” which is a very complex tune, especially during the breakdown, which they pulled off quite elegantly.

guitar

(This is a guitar – guitars are used by many bands in the UMC)

Next up was, Generator, which is a Bad Religion cover band. I don’t much care for Bad Religion or the rest of the bands in that wanna-be thuggy, So Cal punkabilly scene (Social Distortion, NOFX, The Adolescents, etc.)

My feeling is that the SoCal punkabilly stuff is a little soft and contains a tad more posing than East Coast or British punk bands, which are my preferences, and that Mike Ness (Social Distortion singer who sounds like Greg Graffin of Bad Religion), could very well be the son of Satan.

After the Generator’s set, I told the guys that I pretty much, “tune out Bad Religion whenever I hear them on the jukebox.” However, I must admit, watching them gave me a new appreciation for the nuances of Bad Religion’s song structures and harmonies. Not that I’m not going to go out and buy an album any time soon, but thanks to Generator I won’t tune out a Bad Religion song the next time it plays on the juke. That’s a testament to Generator for sure. They also seem like swell guys, with great attitudes. I liked their demeanor during their performance and even more afterward. Kudos!

Next came the Clay Colton Band, which brought the competition to the next level. They opened their set with Bon Jovi (who happens to be the daughter of Satan) and slammed it! Of all the groups that night, the songs the Clay Colton played were my least favorite but they combined musicianship and showmanship in a vibrant, somewhat schlocky manner. They were fun. They were packed with energy. They had leggy hot chicks acting all hot and leggy and shit. I think this was the band that marked a turning point for the crowd, as though everyone in the room sat up a little straighter, and leaned a little forwarder, in their honor.

Then came the moment a lot of people were anticipating: The return of Monsters of Rock. And they did return, in a monster fashion. They played an entire set of new (to them) songs. “Let There Be Rock” by AC/DC, “The Mountain Song” by Janes Addiction , “Aces High,” by Iron Maiden (I’m quite sure the Iron Maiden mascot, Eddie, is the brother of Satan) and closed out with the Mötley Crüe’s anthemic, “Shout at the Devil.”

stage
(This is a stage. The bands in UMC play on a stage too)

Ok, so, here’s the thing about Monsters of Rock that is true about few bands in this competition. When MOR starts playing, the judges stop judging. Well, I do anyway. I become so consumed by their power and fury, that I am no longer looking for things to critique or compliment. I’m just rocking out.

Of course they’re not perfect, but  I don’t care. When Monsters of Rock are on that stage, I don’t want to be a judge. I want to be a fan, so I don’t have to waste time writing comments about how the guitar player came in a half step late on his solo, or the singer went sharp for a second there, because every moment I spend writing stuff down is a moment that I’m not rocking out to Monsters of Rock.

There is one disappointment I’d like to mention. I noticed that MOR did not take my advice last year and add the heavy metal umlaut ( e.g. Mötley Cruë) to their name.

This is a travesty. There is a reason Satan created the heavy metal umlaut and it was to advertise, to those so inclined, that metal can be found here, and also as a warning to others – the more pious among us, the followers of a lighter, safer brand of music, a feebler people whose bones are more brittle, ears more sensitive – that they should steer clear of this area because it is where heavy metal is happening.

T’is a shame that Monsters of Rock will not utilize this ever-so-tiny accent which would explain so much, yet requires so little extra space in their newspaper ad.

davinci_human-sketch32

(This is a human being – often, bands
that perform at UMC have human beings in them)

Last came Led Zeppelin tributers, Dazed and Confused. It was horribly disappointing. Not because the guys sucked or anything, rather, because they suffered one of the worst technical failures in rock and roll history; right up there with the time Derek Smalls (Spinal Tap) couldn’t get out of the alien cocoon during their performance of “Rock and Roll Creation,” at Hartford Civic Center.

It was, dare I say, tragic.

They started the set with “Black Dog,” which, admittedly, had a few misfires, but when they kicked into “Kashmir,” all was forgiven. That song, so majestic, so epic, just put the room into a trance. There must have been at least three or four times when goose pimples ran up and down my arms as they brought the crowd in and out of our hypnotized states and finished to an uproarious applause.

Then they launched into “Whole Lotta Love,” and there was nothing hypnotizing about it. It was straight up, in your face, rawk and they played the intro and pre-middle of the song with  a vengeance, after which they. . .

. . . they slide into a psychedelic breakdown,  with entrancing guitar whelps and yelps, and chilling pick-scrapes, the drummer pecking away at his cymbals and the rims of his snares, and the singer wailing out“ohs” and “ahs” and other orgasmic eructations with his mouth about a foot away from the microphone so it sounds as if he is gratifying himself in a dark cave off in the distance. Then they arrive at the half way point of the breakdown – rising, rising – and here they come, emerging from the psychedelic forest to crush the finale. The drummer rolls out the song’s infamous, psychopathic machine gun drum roll and bangs out a, “Thump! thump!”, which everyone in the world recognizes as Jimmy Page’s cue to shred. And the guitar player steps up and starts wailing on those strings like he’s standing on the P.A. in Madison Square, except, there’s nothing there.

“Thump, thump” goes the bass and drum once more.

And the guitarist goes at it again, and again, and again – for naught.

As I said, it was tragic; as tragic as Romeo and Juliet. In fact that’s what it was. The “thump, thump” of the bass and drums was Romeo’s call to Juliette, but she never answered, thus destroying the defining moment of the song, the moment the song, nay, the entire set, was headed toward – the moment that was supposed to leave us all dazed and confused by their virtuosity. Instead, everybody in that room was devastated, and none moreso than the guitar player, whom I think should probably be put on suicide watch for a few weeks.

But don’t take it to heart, Guitar Guy. Sometimes your guitar goes out when you’re playing a little filler riff that nobody will notice, and sometimes it goes out when you’re playing the most important solo of your life. May all your future technical failures be when you’re playing filler riffs, my friend. And a word of advice – COME BACK NEXT YEAR! You seriously have a shot at winning this thing so get your butts in gear!

Anyway, there you have it. Week 2, in the tank. Thanks for being a great audience – I love you guys!

See ya next week!

  1. The lovely Mary voted for Dazed and Confused. I was with the Monsters although I had high hopes for Sofa Kings.
“Black Dog” was the opener btw, perhaps that’s one of those technical glitches?
I sympathize with the whole lotta glitch but I don’t let “Jimmy” off the hook totally. You might have noticed that he was tuning for a long time during the psychedelic breakdown. Meaning that signal was getting from the guitar to the tuner. Casey jumped up to help with a replacement amp but that wasn’t the problem either. I would guess that he kicked something loose causing the great nothing. Seems equal to accidentally walking off the stage backwards. However, the band played through, Jimmy and all so it was handled well.
Clay Colton was praised for their varied looks on stage but I found it to be too much diversity? Plus the hair flick was driving me up the wall.
Generator was nice but no dynamics. Drums and bass were good but the guitars had poor sound and they weren’t too good.
    Monsters all the way!
    keep rockin’

  2. Dazed and Confused rocked! Their lead singer was one of the best front-men of the night.
Although they didn’t win… I was really impressed with The Sofa Kings! Virually unknown, but really rocked! The guitar player was amazing… the keyboard player was(is) on fire… overall the most talented group of musicians of the night. The drummer didn’t get near the accolades he deserved. They didn’t do the cheesy costume bullshit that tribute cover bands do… what they did was rock the shit out of the 4 songs they did! The female judge suggested that they wear suits??? What? Are we looking for Jonas Brothers wanna be’s?
As for the Clay Colton band… great performance. I was annoyed by the hair flipping of the guitar player. I’m sure that he is a talented musican… and there were many women who found his hair sexy, but to be honest… the flipping bacame distracting.
Monsters of Rock did rock. They sounded great and had a following that obviously made an impression on the judges.
Note to future competitors: bring your friends!!!

  3. The problem was that he never turned the tuner off. It was the guitarists fault, but it coulda happened to anybody. I think you make an excellent point about the excessive diversity in the Clay Colton Band.

  4. oh, and thanks for correcting the “Rock and Roll” mistake, I went back and fixed it.

  5. Capes! We needed capes!
    bassman frm SK

  6. we loved playing the show. great venue, great time. we knew when we walked into the room, the only way we could pull off a win was to slay all the mor fans with our zep mystique. we had them on our reins but…well you know. hopefully, enough of you will take this teaser performance and want to hear all the missing pieces including a vector into presley’s “let’s party tonight” and the rest of our slam down show this summer (check our site for show schedule: http://www.dazedandconfusedband.com). zeppelin forever!

    • I know I”ll be checking you guys out – i’m an instant fan. Thanks for rocking it. Also, you should consider joining again next year

  7. :)

  8. A big thank you to our fans who came out to support us! We are fortunate to have a big east county following, but I know some traveled from the north county and beach areas to be there. And to my son Alex who brought his buddies and made the home made MoR t-shirts, you went above and beyond. And to our Eddie, you rock.

To the other competitors, good job and you had me quite nervous right up until the announcement from the judges, especially Dazed and Confused. We look forward to gigging with you in July.

To the production crew, I noticed you put the crowd meter on a stand to measure response, so that was cool. And I also was able to hear my monitor better this time, so thank you.

Dave P., thanks for making good on your promise to buy me a drink for answering the trivia question. I don’t know who your friend was that you introduced me to, but I swear he looked like the character “Dave” from Desperate Housewives.

And Colleen, ewe arse sofa king wheat hard head. That was hilarious. I’ll be there each week to support the event.
    Tom

  9. What a fun night! I am a HUGE Monsters fan and have been from the very beginning. I love all the guys because they are down to earth, humble and great musicians as well. I thought they ROCKED the place and certainly deserved the win :-)
The Generators (Bad Religion tribute) guys were talented and super nice (they were standing next to us)… but not a million people love Bad Religion fans and that is a bit of a problem.
I was excited to hear the Clay Colton band because I have heard so many good things about them, and they are great. I’m not sure that the girls added anything for me (they were beautiful, with amazing bodies… don’t get me wrong), but it was too much going on to concentrate on the music. I actually enjoyed the song the best when it was just the guys playing. But, I’m pretty sure, every guy in the room would disagree with me there.
I wasn’t super impressed with Dazed and Confused…probably cause I was still on my MOR high, but the singer was good and I liked their song choices. Oh, and I did feel sorry for the guitarist, what a bummer!
One note – I was REALLY happy for the MOR guys… their fans came out in force to support and I am sure that made a difference because I would hazard a guess that it is much more fun to play when you have excited fans rushing the stage.
Oh, and Ed, I missed you over the last year – it was great seeing you again…

  10. By the way, that was also our third gig in 72 hours, so props to Ron for having a voice that could endure the stress test.

  11. BTW, the hair flick was incredibly sexy.. I say leave it in!

  12. I’ve had long hair… and done the hair flick maneuver myself!

:::It’s heavy metal power is well known:::

however, at some point during Clay Colton’s set it lost it’s spellbinding power and descended into nervous tick territory.

  13. I’m a rock CHICK, and it worked for me! I’m just sayin…

  14. As judges, we have a responsibility to evaluate a band regardless of their genre and cannot give preferential evaluation toward bands that are playing music that appeals to us personally. This is not in the spirit of impartiality. It doesn’t matter who I think “Rawked” for “rawking” sake. It matters who performed well in the categories which are evaluated in the competition. We must maintain our impartiality or we ‘re worthless as judges.

    • Yo, D.P., I think it should be noted that I am as impartial as anyone when it comes to judging outside of my biases. However, my approach to BLOGGING is different. When I blog about the bands that played, I most certainly allow my biases to factor in. That’s what it’s all about, bias is what makes writing fresh, and alive. And if anyone thinks that I chose Monsters of Rock because I have a hard rock bias, clearly wasn’t there that night. Monsters of Rock was the best band, and had they not been, I would not have voted for them. I believe my record proves that, since, I voted for Detroit Underground to beat out all my personal favorites (Monsters, Anger, Alice) in the finals last year; despite that I prefer hard rock to Motown.

      that is all.

  15. I’m a female rock fan who was there for the show last Sunday, and all I gotta say is, BRING ON THAT ‘70S ROCK SHOW!!!
Yeah, that guy flicked his hair alot, but still rocked. If you are a fellow rocker-chick and enjoy watching great musicians who happen to be cute, this is the band you have to see. And if you are a guy who respects awesome musicians, this is the band for you too.

  16. Since the website is just a list of bands I looked up next Sunday’s lineup…
    and here they are!

    Politik — ColdPlay tribute.
    http://politikusa.com/Home_Page.html
While searching for them I ran across an ad for a lead singer, That can’t be good!

    The JackStones — Variety Covers.
    http://thejackstones.com/Home_Page.html
Classic Rock. They share lead vocals and have a chick singer plus keyboards.

    Baytown Band — Variety Covers.
    http://www.baytownband.com/BTB%20home.html
Seem to be more pop/dance. Two girl singers and one dude plus keys.

Diamond is Forever — Neil Diamond Tribute.
    http://davidjsherryproductions.com/index.html
Seems to be a BIG show with experience. I’m looking forward to checkin this out.

    Funky Pox — Variety Covers.
    http://www.funkypox.com/index.html
Pop/dance two female singers up front.

  17. I noticed Anger is a Gift is no longer on the menu. What happened?

  18. Wow, I feel bad for people not smart enough to understand Bad Religion and what they stand for. And so Ignorant not only do you think Mike Ness sounds like Gregg of Bad Religion, and you refer to Mike Ness as the Son of Satan but you consider these bands to be Punkabilly?!? I really don’t know who you are but you really should know a bit about music if you are going to judge bands.

  19. Oh yeah Scott, well, I don’t know who you are but you really should know a little about music judges if you are going to judge music judges.

    1. If I don’t understand Bad Religion it’s not about “smarts.” My guess is there are a lot of smart people out there who don’t know anything about Bad Religion.

    2. Gregg Graffin ABSOLUTELY sounds like Mike Ness – to me anyway.

    3. Being the son of Satan and in a punkabilly band are not mutually exclusive items.

That said, it is quite possible I don‘t understand Bad Religion or know what they stand for. The reason for that is, because, for me, they never passed the “first impression” test, which is to say, there was nothing about them on the surface that attracted me, so I never bothered to dig deeper to find out what they stand for. There’s just too many bands out there to follow to waste time on the groups that don’t appeal to me. None of this is an insult to Bad Religion. And, as I stated, it seems my first impression was wrong. But that don’t make me dumb, or ignorant about music; nor will you ever find a music judge who knows everything about every type of music, or what every band stands for, which makes you ignorant about the music judging process for thinking otherwise.

    I’m just sayin’

    e.

  20. Had a blast! All of the bands kicked it. This challenge is a great way to network have a great time and be recognized for musicianship, staging, and showmanship. MOR had it going and bringing a big crowd adds energy to the stage. think about it….empty room kicking out the jamms or a room packed full of fans kicking the jamm. Thank you to the judges for taking time. We all have our favorite bands to listen too…. it was evident on stage…the one constant…. I saw some very good musicianship!! I’m going to plug our (SK) guitarist. Dave Gladish is one of the mostest, bestest, coolioist guitarist I’ve had the pleasure to rock with.
    Kev…bassman SK
    Thanks for having us!

  21. Thanks to all of the bands and the judges for making the night such an awesome time. Yes, I had a blast on stage, but I also really enjoyed hanging out and being a fan of all of the other groups. What a night.

Oh, I apologize to anyone who was annoyed or offended by my guitar players hair-flopping. As I pay my Banjo/mandolin/fiddle player by the note, I pay Sergio, the guitar player, by the hair flop. It’s not his fault, he’s just trying to pay some bills.

  22. I feel bad for Scott for feeling bad that we are all just too stupid to get Bad Religion. kum ba ya…

  23. The hair flicking! ha ha…yes yes yes. I know I do it a lot but hell…try having this mop on your head while running around, jumping, and playing guitar all at the same time. what guitar player with long hair DOESNT and HASNT done it?!?!?!? As a performer you gotta do whatever it takes to catch peoples attention- whether its good or bad attention. Thanks to all for blogging! ROCK N ROLL!

  24. I would like to direct your attention to the device patented by Léon Theremin in 1928

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin

    In case you were wondering

    DP

  25. We really enjoyed coming out to play for everyone last Sunday. What a great night of music and fun. Mor raised the bar high and certainly deserved that win. We hope they take it all this year. Thanks to the judges for their feedback and patience. Thanks to all the other bands for making the competition tough and bringing pleasure to our ears. For those with interest, check out our bounce back tour here: http://www.dazedandconfusedband.com. Rock and Roll!

  26. Hey! Leave the flipping hair guy alone. If you had hair you might want to flip ot too! Think about it and call me.

  27. I wish I still had that much hair to flip.

  28. The UMC is a unique event as bands are being judged. Unlike a “normal” gig where you have fans slobbering over you and declaring you the “best band ever” <— in a drunk voice.

    for the record…
Every band from week two KICKED ASS!!!

This competition has some entertainment value seeing crappy bands who think they are not crappy. Then to see comments on the blog where they try to rip Ed for telling the truth. I’m reminded of “Lifelike” from last year. I missed that show as I was out of town but the blog response was classic…

“We might not be the perfect cover band to Viejas judges, but beautiful female fans, who love to come up on our small stage and shake and shimmy to us playing” LOL

so the remarks here that seem to be negative are really small critiques only. I would be proud to rock with any of these bands (from week two) and flick my hair next to Sergio.

  29. Although my hair short now, I have flicked in the past
    http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1256874&l=aa88d58b44&id=797038840

  30. I heard from Anger is a Gift and they had to drop out. It’s a shame.

  31. That is a major bummer.

  32. Gee Ed… not much controversy this year? Maybe you guys are getting soft or something – and I guess I should be happy that you all got it right this week with Monsters :-)

  33. Big ups to the almighty Monsters of Rock! Give em hell guys! Congrats from Anger…

  34. I posted my Congrats to MOR the day after the show but for
    some reason it did’nt post?
So i’ll try it again: I’m so Very Proud of All of You!
I feel Honored and Lucky to have such a Great Band in my Life.
As a huge Fan of “Monsters Of Rock” Your Win is also Our Win!
Thank You for making All Us Fans So Proud! You Guys Rock!

  35. Hey all of you fellow musicians & fans alike, I’m really enjoying the diverse talent San Diego has to offer & everyone involved should be proud to be a part of this year’s competition. My band “That ’70s Rock Show” can’t wait to jump into the fray.Good luck to all!! that70srockshow.com

  36. Well it’s time to chime in. When we saw who we were up against this last round we were very concerned. Having seen Dazed, we knew they would be a force to reckon with and they “rawked” regardless of the technical difficulties. I don’t knw a musician who hasn’t had a similar situation happen to them. We almost had a similar experience happen to us last year w/Gavin’s amp. 6One9 saved the day proving not only that they rock as musicians, but that they’re a class act (don’t let all the flashing girls at their shows fool ya).

As for the Clay Colton band, we’d heard nothing but great things about them and having now seeing them live we know what we heard was true. Then imagine getting to Viejas and hearing the first band, the Sofa Kings with their ripping tight rythm section, bluesy vocals, and great guitar playing, and I was like, whoah, it’s going to be a tough night. As for Generator, they reminded me of how cool the band Bad Religion was, mainly because they nailed their sound and did it justice. I felt nervous right up to the moment they called our band’s name. It was a nerve wracking night, but for the audience I would have to say it was a night of great bands, and I am honored to have been included among them.

As our singer said during our set, one of the coolest things for us about participating in last year’s UMC was getting to see and know so many great bands. In particular, Anger, Alice, DU, Haute Flash, Good Mojo, and of course 6One9. And lets not forget to mention all the new friends we made, Colleen, LH Chris, Bernard, and of course the Viejas staff.

Bottom-line, I’m really happy to be back and I look forward to seeing all the other bands in the weeks to come. Thank you UMC staff, judges, and all our fans for making all this possible.

Sergio of MOR, not Clay Colton. I never had and never will have that kind of hair. Bummer.

  37. Congrats to MOR, I’m not surprised. See you at the Finals.

    Bernard from D.U.

  38. Hey fellow bloggers… I’ve been sitting back and watching how the blog will do without me and oh my… so quiet! :-) JK! Ed… you’ve been very quiet this week also. I hope you are feeling okay… or is it that Patti was right and that you “guys are getting soft”?

SOFA KINGS: WOW! You guys came out first on that stage, and set the tone for the evening! Bring your best to this stage or just walk away now! You were very tight and looked great. And no… you don’t need capes. Great to see some gray hair up there! Awesome sound and awesome band!

GENERATOR: Don’t know Bad Religion, but I can still recognize good musicianship when I see it. High energy from all you guys. Brought that energy out on stage and maintained it throughout! Quite loud, but very good! I have to wonder though… does your drummer maintain that intensity throughout a regular gig? If he does, he must be exhausted by the end of the gig!

    CLAY COLTON:

  39. (oops… hit the wrong key)
CLAY COLTON: I have been hearing such great reviews and comments about this band since they had to drop out last year and week 2 I found out all the comments held true! Great band! You stepped out onto that stage with showmanship equal to that of a Vegas show band. Great stage dynamics! Don’t know if I’d chosen “Dead or Alive” as my opening song, but you kept building the intensity of your performance and took the audience to a higher level. Great job! And great hair flipping! Sergio… you must be a very rich man!

MONSTERS OF ROCK: What can I say? You guys brought it to the stage, just like I kew you would do! Very professional! Very tight! Totally TOGETHER!! I knew you guys would do well, but you surpassed what I expected! You were far better than last year. Sergio! Watching you play your guitar while standing with one foot on the monitor as if saying… “yeah, I’m here… I know what I’m doing… and I’m showing everybody here, that we are the best!” Totally awesome boys! Can’t wait to see what you will be bringing to the semis! Congratulations on the win!!

DAZED AND CONFUSED: Have to agree with Patti in that I was not all that impressed. But have to give you some props for having to follow MOR, and perhaps I was like Patti and still coming down from the MOR high. I wanted to see more energy from the entire band. The lead singer had energy, but he alone can’t hold up the energy level for the entire band. Why did you place your guitar player so far from the rest of the band? He was almost in the wings! Dude! Join the rest of your band! Good sound though and good professionalism when the amp went out. Keep playing… keep performing.

SOME GENERAL THOUGHTS: Re. hair flipping… love guitar players who have long hair or go by the name “Sergio”! Although going by the name “Paul” is pretty good too!

Ed: Seems that Scott hit a nerve with you! I love watching you get your back up whenever someone else has a different opinion than yours! Your ego really shines through whenever anyone challenges your way of thinking! I should know! :-)

Dave M: It was lovely meeting you and the lovely Mary and I have to agree with you that “…every band from week 2 KICKED ASS!” Don’t forget to send me the name of the lyric lady.

Anger Is A Gift: Yes bummer indeed that they will not be there this contest.

Viejas: Thank you for finally coming up with a way to get the decibal reader to be more equal for everybody. At least on the mic stand it is positioned the same for every band, and you seemed to place it on the same spot on the stage each time. Lighting guys? Once again you showed your talented ability to enhance each band! GREAT JOB! Suggestion though? Put a spot on the judges when they are being introduced. And could you go back to having the camera on them while they are doing the critiques? And to the management… could you open the doors at 5:45 instead of 6:00? You are losing bar revenue!

Judges: Much better comments this time. You gave good, specfic critiques. Don’t know that I agreed with all of your choices and comments, but at least your comments had a little more “meat” to them.

Shaaron, Donna, Patti, Linda: Finally some “chick” support on this blog! Where have you all been??? Please stay active on the blog. I need some female support here!

And lsstly to Tom: ewe arsa brat! Can’t believe you got me!

See you tonight…10 hours, 35 minutes and counting. Hey bands… the bar is very high…bring your best tonight! Good luck to all!

    ~~Peace

  40. Hey, how about putting up some links to the band websites so we can know if the Jackstones are a tribute to The Jackson 5 and The Flintstones or whatever.

    Tom – Mönsters of Röck

    • “Tom” I thought “ED’s” idea Last Year about adding the “Umlaut” to
your Bands name was Killer! and I still do!!
It also seperates you from the Old MOR which helps your “New Fans”
when it comes to “The Net”,Links, Etc… Just a thought?

  41. Yeah!…..What Tom said!

  42. The Jackstones aren’t going to be performing, they are being replaced by “The Untouchables” and you can find their information on http://www.myspace.com/theuntouchablessd

Looking forward to seeing you guys tonight!

    DP

  43. I talked to Viejas a couple of weeks ago about putting up the websites and they are working on it.

    DP

  44. I’m bummed… I won’t be able to come tonight because I’ve got a really icky cough and feel pretty awful. But would someone go please find Ed and make sure he is still breathing? I’m worried about him, truly. The blog is an important part of the Viejas fun and I miss him terribly here. I think we all do. Ed? Are you out there? We love you Ed….

Their killer Tito Puente-inspired finale was like adrenaline to my soul! You had to be there. I don’t know who won tonight’s competition, but I guarantee… the competition was fierce!

  53. What’s Jim’s facebook url?
